Spore Galactic AdventuresEA’s next Spore expansion pack’s release date is creeping closer. On June 23, 2009, Spore Galactic Adventures will be available in stores. Unlike the previous $19.99 Spore Creepy and Cute Parts Pack expansion, the Spore Galactic Adventures expansion costs $29.99. There’s a good reason for it though!

The previous parts pack expansion for Spore just added in some additional creature parts and movements. So your characters could be customized further in the Creator Creator mode or the Creature Stage phase of Spore. The Spore Galactic Adventures expansion adds new depth and life to the Space Stage portion of the game.

See, the Spore Space Stage is typically all about exploration, diplomacy, trading and colonization. You’re typically searching for planets, creating colonies on uninhabited planets, getting spices from colonies and dealing with other empires and space pirates. It’s more about the big picture than a single creature.

In Spore Galactic Adventures, players get to refocus in on a single character again, like they did in the Creature Stage. You pick one of your creatures to become a Space Captain and then go through various missions trying to make that captain a legend. This means new goodies and tools for the creatures who become captains, new missions and Adventure Creator, a whole new Creator mode.

The Adventure Creator mode may end up being the most exciting part of this expansion. Players can create their own missions for Space Captains or alter existing Maxis missions. Plus, you can share the adventures you have created online, or download other players’ adventures.

It sounds could end up being one of the more worthwhile EA expansion packs. Not totally forgettable like Spore Cute and Creepy Parts Pack, The Sims 2: FreeTime or SimCity Societies: Destinations. You’re dead to me now, Cute and Creepy Parts Pack.
