nis america logoNIS (Nippon Ichi Software) America, most popularly known for its library of delightfully unique games including the Disgaea series, has announced a new ongoing project in its horizon: anime.

NIS America announced on February 11, 2010, that the company would be releasing anime titles mid-2010 to quench the growing thirst for Japanese pop culture. Following the footsteps of many of their games, the anime titles the company plans to release will be offered with exclusive collector’s items.

The confirmed list of titles thus far are:

  • Toradora!: A slice of life anime that takes place in high school and focuses on the rambunctious shorty known as Taiga and her misunderstood neighbor-classmate with a knack for all things regarding cooking and cleaning, Ryuji.
  • Persona: Trinity Soul: Following the Persona videogame series time line, this anime series takes place after the events of Persona 3 and the enigmatic paranormal events that develop around three brothers.
  • PandoraHearts: The fatherless heir, Oz Bezarius turns 15 and thus kisses his carefree days of being a rich spoiled brat “goodbye” as he’s suddenly cast into a prison, the “Abyss.” There he meets Alice, a bloodied black rabbit, and sets off to uncover why the mysterious organization known as “Pandora” has it out for him
  • Our Home’s Fox Deity: Two brothers, Noboru and Toru, have turned their backs on the family’s secret: the ability to use the water ki and ward off demons. However, when a demon decides to disrupt Toru’s life, he must tune into these powers by awakening the fox spirit Kugen in order to preserve his family’s safety.

All of these series have been on the Japanese market for quite a while and, as a fan of the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series, I’m glad to know that it’s finally going to see the light of the North American day. I’m just hoping that the goodies they package with the series will be well worth the anguishing wait.
