This one is still technically a rumor until it’s officially confirmed – but it’s a particularly strong one. “Japan’s top economic newspaper”, the Nikkei Shimbun, recently reported that Nintendo is planning a new Mario game for release on Wii in Japan later this year. The same story (via GameLife) also mentioned a new Wii Fit – which is slated for a fall release.
From the post:
“The paper says the game will contain online features, allowing you to compete in weight-loss challenges against distant friends. It will also feature enhanced motion sensitivity.”
This could be interesting, but I’m sticking with my EA Sports Active, thank you very much.
As for the infamous plumber, could we be in for a new “full-on” Mario? Or perhaps this is really just a one off (a la a Mario sports or party or RPG) of some sort. After all, we haven’t seen Mario Lacrosse yet. Actually, that would be completely awesome.
