If you like RPGs and heavy metal, Brutal Legend from Double Fine and EA seems like it would be the game for you. A preview trailer and some information was given at E3 for this humorous game that tries to prove that metal is not only gameworthy but is also not a young man’s game anymore.

Probably the youngest person in the cast for the game is Jack Black, actor, musician and goofball extraordinaire. Premise for the game is that a roadie is pretty much sucked into a fantasy realm that is ruled by metal. For some reason, this lush metal world is in danger and it is up to the roadie and a group of metal gods to save this world. So, to quote one of the lines from trailer, “Time for a mosh pit.”

So you’re probably wondering whether or not I was exaggerating when I said a group of metal gods. Judge for yourself. The rest of the main characters that aren’t villains are voiced by some of heavy metal’s leading players. It features the voices of Rob Halford of Judas Priest, Lemmy Kilmeister of Motorhead, Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne. Just that alone would give the game credibility in the metal world.

One of the members of the development that pitched the game to the waiting public spoke about how when he was 14 years old all the stars of the game were on the list of people he wanted to meet. He joked that the reason why he helped make the game was to meet the people on that list.

So we know that parts of the metal pantheon are there. We also know that there’s going to be a lot of humor behind it. From what they’ve shown it’s looks pretty good in a cartoony way. Now we just need to worry about whether or not it’s playable. We’ll be finding out as soon as the game is sent off to the public for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 13, 2009, in the United States and October 16, 2009, in Europe.

Hopefully you enjoy the trailer as much as we do.
