During the E3 2009 conference attendees were given a glimpse of the sequel titled Assassin’s Creed 2. The only confirmed date is the US release date of November 17, 2009, for Xbox and PS3.
Even though the scenery and times have changed, the war between the Templars and the Assassins wages on. In the game players control a new character named Ezio Auditore de Firenze, a young nobleman and descendant of Altair. Desmond Miles is still a prisoner who was captured by modern day Templars and is forced to relive his ancestor’s lives through the Animus computer.
As Ezio, you will find interesting allies like Leonardo Da Vinci who helped build his weaponry and inventions that can help him escape intense situations. He will also encounter devious foes that must be assassinated, most of whom were involved in the assassination of his own family.
Much like the first game, there will be many names, places and events that can be found in history books. Players will also able to do things they couldn’t do in the first game such as attack two enemies at once, swim and glide through the air with one of Da Vinci’s incredible inventions.
If it’s as gorgeous and historically interesting as the first game, I can’t wait to peel back that wrapping and start playing. Check out the official trailer shown during E3 and be prepared to be amazed:
