Golden SunIf you heard unexplicable squealing, that was probably just me as Nintendo announced Golden Sun DS at its E3 2009 press conference. See, Nintendo announced that the Golden Sun RPG series, which first appeared on the GBA with Golden Sun and its direct sequel Golden Sun: The Lost Age is going to return. Golden Sun DS will grace gamers with its presence in 2010.

Unfortunately, at the moment, all we know is that Camelot and Nintendo’s RPG adventure exists. We don’t know if it will pick up where Golden Sun: The Lost Age left off, or if it will be a totally new adventure set in the game world. The brown hair hero in the screenshots doesn’t resemble any of the old Golden Sun characters. However, the three characters in the official art pictured at the right look a lot like Isaac, Mia and Garet. If so, where’s Ivan?

Personally, I’m hoping it will connect to the two GBA Golden Sun games to unlock additional content. Perhaps it could unlock character cameos?

This is an absolutely fantastic announcement. I’m very relieved. For a while, I thought Golden Sun had befallen the same fate as the Mother series.
