nintendo logoWow, we just had a lot of surprises from Nintendo. From the expected Wii Sports Resort and Motion Plus hyping, to the unexpected announcement of New Super Mario Bros. (Wii), Golden Sun DS and Metroid: Anotther M (Wii).

Gamertell’s just finished it’s live blog for the Nintendo press conference. It went on for just over an hour, and had lots of interesting game information. Let’s look over the highlights of the event in bullet point form:

The Good

  • Nintendo offered a brief “salute” to upcoming mature games Dead Space Extraction, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles and The Conduit.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is playable at E3.
  • In Summer 2009, people will be able to upload
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! is a DSiWare exclusive game that will be released June 8, 2009. It’s playable at E3. You can create your own levels in the game.
  • Flipnotes Studio a program that makes your own animations, is headed to the DSi in Summer, 2009.
  • Style Savvy, known in Japan as Wagamama Fashion Girl’s Mode is headed to North America. In the game, you get to design and manage your own clothing shop, organize fashion runway shows and customize an avatar. There’s over 10,000 clothing items.
  • Ubisoft is bringing what looks like a more lawful version of Grand Theft Auto to the DS as Cop: The Recruit.
  • Nintendo’s dabbling in visual novels again with Women’s Murder Club: Games of Passion, based on the James Patterson novels. It’ll also have casual mini-games in it.
  • Mario & Luigi RPG: Bowser’s Inside Story will be out on the DS in Fall, 2009. Both in North America and Europe.
  • Saw brief trailers for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (Wii) and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (DS).
  • Wii Motion Plus is being bundled with some EA and Sega sports games, like Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and Virtua Tennis 2009.
  • Wii Sports Resort is out July 26, 2009. It looks like a lot of fun.
  • Wii Fit Plus is coming soon. It’ll come with or without a balance board and include 6 new strength/yoga exercises and 15 new balance games.

The Great

  • Nintendo’s teaming up with Team Ninja to bring Metroid: Another M to the Wii in 2010. It’s supposedly a darker Metroid game.
  • Super Mario Galaxy 2 is on the way. It looks like more of the same from Super Mario Galaxy, only with Yoshi along for the ride.
  • WarioWare Made in Ore, which lets you make your own WarioWare microgames and share them online, is coming to North America as WarioWare DIY.
  • The Golden Sun series returns with Golden Sun DS.
  • New Super Mario Bros. is coming to the Wii. This time, there’s multiplayer support. You can play alone, or with three other friends. You can also shift from single to multiplayer. And, the multiplayer can be co-op or competative.

The… Huh?

  • A vitality sensor peripheral? Really? It looks like something you’d stick your finger in to check your blood sugar or something.
  • Red Steel 2 is only playable with the Wii Motion Plus peripheral.
  • “Everyone’s Game” being used, I don’t know, over 20 times throughout the presentation.
