Final Fantasy XIVIn what is probably the biggest shocker of Sony’s E3 2009 press conference, Jack Trenton announced that the Square Enix-developed Final Fantasy XIV would be coming out exclusively for the PS3 in 2010.

But wait, a press release sent by Square Enix today June 2, 2009) indicates that the game will also be released for Windows.

A cinematic intro video was shown a the Sony press conference which provided us with Final Fantasy imagery we’ve come to expect such as flying creatures and, of course, chocobos.

The most interesting piece of the announcement came after the trailers with a line that read, “A new online epic begins.” This means that FFXIV will be a massively multiplayer online role-playingf game just like Final Fantasy XI, which was confirmed by the same press release along with the logo. It will also be released in Japanese, English, French and German.

This makes for the second Final Fantasy related announcement of the press conference after Sony announced Final Fantasy VII will be available to download from PSN today (June 2, 2009).
