E3 2009 is all over now and the games have all been announced. It’s time to look at the best of the best, specifically for the Wii.
There were a ton of games announced at E3 that all look very good, so I limited it to the best ten, which really only makes this a sampling. Games are listed in no particular order.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
The first Super Mario Galaxy was simply amazing and this one looks equally so. There are no details released about the game but from the videos it looks just like the first one. You run around on 3D worlds as Mario, collecting stars and coins while fighting unique enemies with special abilities. It didn’t show any new abilities in the videos but I hope there are. Also from what I saw, it looks like you can unlock Luigi and Yoshi is involved! No set release date.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Oh, man, does this look fun! I’m sure most of you have played the game for the DS and this one is looking to be even better. You can play as Mario, Luigi and two Toads. I assume it involves fighting Bowser and saving Princess (which would be the only reason they didn’t make her a playable character). The best part about this game is you can play them all simultaneously either co-op or competitively. It reminds me a lot of Super Mario Bros. 2 (minus princess) but you can play all the characters at once) and Mario is awake this time. No release date announced.

The Legend of Zelda
Hardly anything was announced about this one. All that Miymoto (the creator) said was that it would be set in a different era, Link will be closer to adulthood, the story will be very different than any of the other ones and no sword(!?). It also might involve the WiiMotionPlus. I personally have yet to be disappointed with a Zelda game, ‘cept maybe Majora’s Mask which I just could not get into, and I don’t think I will be disappointed in this one either. No release date announced.
Metroid: Other M
From the trailers it looks like you get to see Samus out of her awesome suit and she talks. It has the same game play as the others being a third-person platform shooter. It’s looks like in this one, you get more of the background as to why Samus is donning her suit and taking out aliens. There is also a mysterious girl in a business suit that looks like t-r-o-u-b-l-e. I hope they also explain in the game the poor choice of game title. No release date announced.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers
A sequel FFCC on the Gamecube. In this one you are the Crystal Bearer, from the trailer it looks like no one trusts him and you don’t know if he will bring harm or save everyone. Seeing as you play him, I assume he will end up being good. It’s a one player action RPG, with real-time fighting. The story looks good, and the use of the WiiMote should add a whole new element to the FF experience. No release date announced.

Red Steel 2
I’m actually surprised they are making a sequel considering the first one didn’t do so well but this one actually looks good. It’s a action shooter and you can switch between swords and guns at will or use both at once. It also utilizes the WiiMotionPlus so every swing of the sword you make, the character makes, too. You can be attacked in groups and sword fight up to four guys at once. As long as they fix the movement and horrible camera angles, the game should be great. No release date announced.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade
A Japanese style RPG by the creators of Odin Sphere (PS2). It looks very much like Odin Sphere . The game is played by running through fields and attacking enemies. When an enemy attacks you are stuck in that area until you kill everything, gaining magic and items from them. When you complete a whole area, new areas are unlocked. You also play through different characters to see there unique story lines. You play holding the controller sideways like an old NES controller for this one so maybe you can even use the retro controller. Scheduled to be released September 9, 2009.

Dead Space: Extraction
Sequel to the first one. A first person shooter that takes place in space and involves killing very creepy space creatures! It looks like you can play as different characters throughout the game as opposed to just the one in the first game. You use various guns in the game to kill the horrible beasts and you can even pick up ammo using kinesis. The looks very creepy and scary like the first one, with dark rooms and creatures jumping out at you everywhere. It would be nice if this were multiplayer too. Scheduled to be released September 29, 2009.
Wii Yoga
Yes, that’s right, Wii Yoga! I always enjoy a good workout game that is fun and makes you feel like you aren’t actually working out. Wii Fit did so well that it’s only natural you make more games like it. It will, of course, use the Balance Board and takes place in a Buddist temple with 49 different poses, plus some history behind the poses and yoga in general. It has different settings for people new to yoga and those who are skilled already. You can even create your own routines. Scheduled to be released October 2009.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
If you remember the popularity of Marvel vs. Capcom then you can imagine how well this will do. Basically, as the name suggests, it’s a fighting game that pits Capcom characters against the Tatsunoko game characters. So you can have Ryu vs. Speed Racer, or Macross vs. M. Bison (for example). Street Fighter was always my favorite fighting game and practically created the ever-popular “button mashing” that was always associated with fighting games. This title looks fast and action packed. I’m not sure if you can switch between different characters or are the same one the whole time but I’m sure it will be filled with moves, styles, and techniques. I don’t know why it’s on the Wii and not the PS3 but I’m complaining. No release date announced.

Oh wow! These games look really nice! A new Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers all look like really tight games. Can't wait for them to come out.
Yeah, I'm excited for the New Super Mario Bros myself. Unfortunitly we have to wait a while for most of these.
