It would be wise to make some plans outdoors on June 16, 2009, because Xbox Live won’t be around to keep you company.
Starting at 12:01a.m. (PST), Xbox Live will be undergoing maintenance that could last up to 24 hours. This means there will no be online multiplayer, the My Xbox section of Xbox.com will be unavailable and you won’t be able to post to the Xbox forums.
The cause for the downtime is for the Xbox tech guys to start laying the groundwork for future Xbox Live content such as Last.fm, Games on Demand, Avatar Marketplace and Facebook-Twitter integration. These features along with others were announced during Microsoft’s E3 2009 press conference.
Even after all that, once Xbox Live comes back online we will not be seeing any new features on the dashboard.
