Grease the game is, unsurprisingly, a music and rhythm game. The Wii version will utilize the microphone and remote to allow players to sing and dance along with the cast of Grease in the famous musical numbers. The DS game will likely focus on the dancing aspect, since the press release mentions it will focus on touch screen controls.
No matter how much I think about this, I still can’t convince myself that it isn’t desecrating one of my childhood memories. Even if the DS version of the Grease game ended up being a well-made Ouendan / Elite Beat Agents clone, I’m not sure I could enjoy it. If they want to honor Grease, then include a couple of songs from the movie in an edition of SingStar or something. Don’t make a mockery of the whole thing with new video games. I mean look at how the High School Musical games came out – I don’t think the target audience was even all that thrilled about them.
