BioShock 2 gets delayed

Everyone anticipating being able to suit up as a Big Daddy in BioShock 2: it looks like your second descent into Rapture is going to happen a bit later than expected. The game, which was slated for a release in fall 2009, has just slipped to “fiscal year 2010″, presumably in the first quarter of the calendar year. 1Up has the scoop, which includes a quote from Take 2 CEO Ben Feder saying that the company “felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve”.

Well, that’s a good reason to delay a game, certainly. And this fall is jam-packed with titles, so perhaps 2K and Take Two are doing the right thing by allowing the sequel a little breathing room. The original game was a word-of-mouth success that came out in August – and you’ll remember, it got quite a boost by being released outside of the monstrous 2007 holiday release schedule.

When I saw the game at E3, it was looking damned good, especially the multiplayer. I’m not worried about quality – let’s just hope we get cracking before too long – my plasmid trigger finger is itchy already.
