Gamertell recently told you that classic fighter Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is coming to Xbox Live. At that time, there was no official word on when it would hit PlayStation Network. Today (July 16, 2009) Capcom let us know the wait will be over for PlayStation 3 fighting fans August 13, 2009, for $15 (US).
This game’s 56-character roster is the biggest to ever trade punches in a Capcom game, which may be part of the reason for its success. Additions to this version of the arcade stalwart include ranked matches and optional visual filters to smooth out the game’s graphics. Also the “Quarter Match” type tries to recreate the old-school arcade feel by allowing four players to watch and chat while two players battle.
Because, let’s face it, the highs are higher and the lows are lower with friends waiting in the wings to praise or taunt your performance. Can’t you just smell the stale popcorn and overpriced food-court cookies from the shopping mall of your youth?
A demo of the fighter is currently available on PSN. It includes six playable characters, two-player local matches and seven selectable environments.
