Music_boxartI bet at least a third of you out there took piano lessons when you were younger and never got anything out of it. OK, maybe you got a little out of it but not enough to be able to play Beethoven’s 5th symphony. Well, maybe you just had the wrong teacher.

Shiro Tsuji, a famous Japanese musician, believes that anyone can learn to read music and play an instrument. He’s created a unique game for the DS appropriately named Music.

Music is a game that allows you to learn the basics of music in a fun way. Tsuji wants your learning experience to be beneficial but also fun since everyone learns better when having fun

Music_screenshot2The game consist of 21 lessons where you learn the basics of music theory including different notes, the differences between clefs and, of course, how to read music. The game also offers quick tests to measure your progress and check your learning curve. There are also plenty of mini games that are designed to practice your sense of rhythm, memory and musical ear.

Finally, you get to test out what you learned on virtual instruments such as guitar, drums, piano and a series of others. You can also plan when you want to practice on your coach calendar.

Music is designed for beginners who have no musical training but it could also be beneficial to those who just want to fine tune their skills, plus it’s just a fun game to play! Music comes out October 2009 exclusively for the DS.
