disney grabbing for the world gamertellAnd you thought Disney was done when it started the multi-billion dollar acquisition of Marvel.

Less than a week after that announcement, Disney then announced that it has agreed to purchase Wideload Games, makers of Stubbs the Zombie, Hail to the Chimp and Texas Cheat’ Em.

According to Disney’s press release, the purchase will relocate Wideload’s founder and CEO, Alexander Seropian, to Glendale, Calif. (USA) as Disney’s Interactive Studios’ vice president of creative. Seropian founded Wideload in 2003, three years after negotiating the sale of Bungie (which developed that l’il ol’ Halo franchise) to Microsoft.

Wideload’s president, Tom Kang, will remain with Wideload as its studio director. The company’s offices will continue to operate in Chicago, Ill. (USA).

The sale amount was not disclosed. As for game development, as Disney press release states, “Wideload Games will focus on creating new intellectual properties for Disney that target a broad audience… [and] is developing an unannounced original family console game scheduled for release in 2010 from Disney Interactive Studios.”

Any guesses on Disney’s next big acquisition?
