Like to mix music? Wish you had a way to do it and get that groovy, retro video game-y sound? Well then just for you, XSeed Games has announced it will release KORG DS-10 Plus – a followup to its 2008 cart of a similar name, KORG DS-10 – early 2010 for DS and DSi.
Developed by Cavia, Inc. and Procyon Studio, the application is based on the KORG MS-10 music synthesizer and is more a music creation and manipulation program than a game. With it you can create tones and mix music from scratch using a graphical interface. According to XSeed press release, this new release will “utilize the high-performance specifications of the DSi.”
The cart is a boon to liver-performance mixers who have been calling for a clean, graphic program to use instead of hacked apps. Sure, there’s something rock and roll about playing a hacked system with bootleg carts and crazy wires extruding from it but having a release sanctioned by Nintendo means you can perform with much more reliability (and not fear getting nicked by local authorities). It also helps to make music mixing more approachable for newcomers.
New features will include:
Per-track MUTE/SOLO built into the SONG mode
EDIT/PLAY enabled for all modes within the SONG (for real-time performances)
Touch-screen controls have been tweaked for an “authentic feel and operability”
A 6-track/16-step sequencer
Up to eight units can be linked via wireless connection to play together or to exchange sounds and songs
