Ubisoft’s highly-regarded medieval sequel has sold 1.6 million (worldwide) in just one week, according to a news item over at 1Up. The numbers represent a staggering 32% increase in sales from the first game (released in 2007 to lukewarm reception).
From the post:
“That’s 32% more than the first-week sales of the original, which retains the record for fastest selling new intellectual property. But with better reviews, better buzz, and a franchise already built, this new edition is toppling its predecessor and likely making Ubisoft investors happy.”
Its actually great news, considering how awesome the game is – if you haven’t checked it out yet, be sure to put it on your holiday wish list and “accidentally” drop it near a loved one. Its an incredible blend of action and fascinating, intricate world design – and it lives up to the promise hinted at by the first game. If anything deserves big success this season, its AC II. The same goes for New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but hey – that’s a post for another day.
