The game is slated for a May 2010 release to coincide with the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time movie.
Details are sketchy, so we don’t know yet whether this is an entirely new game or an HD remake of one or more of the original games from the Sands of Time trilogy (I would absolutely buy that, by the way).
Ubisoft did confirm it is set in the Sands of Time storyline. When the new Prince and his game were introduced in 2008, the word from Ubisoft was that the Sands of Time storyline was concluded. But with a big budget blockbuster based on those games coming out, there are millions of reasons for Ubisoft to revisit it.
Yes, we could be dealing with a game based on a movie based on a game. The best known precedent for that is Street Fighter: The Movie and that is something that must never, ever happen again.
