Every blockbuster game these days drops some downloadable content and Ubisoft has announced its PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 hit Assassin’s Creed II has two new pieces on the way.
“Battle for Forli” is coming in January 2010, with “Bonfire of the Vanities” slated for February 2010. Ubisoft hasn’t revealed any more details on what these new packs will include.
The game focuses on numerous historical figures and events from the Renaissance era, so the Battle for Forli may continue the story of Caterina Sforza. She was a well-known political figure of the time and early promotional materials hinted she would be important in the game. Game Informer Magazine even devoted an entire sidebar of its ACII feature to her colorful history, so it was a bit of surprise that she barely appeared in the game at all.
In history, the Bonfire of the Vanities was a famous event in which a Dominican priest’s supporters burned thousands of objects thought to cause sin, ranging from books to cosmetics.
It’s a good thing they didn’t have video game consoles back then. I shudder to think how many copies of Grand Theft Auto they would have burned.
