This seems to be the case with British tennis star Andy Murray’s girlfriend Kim Sears, daughter of a former tennis coach. According to gossip pubs, Murray, who is currently ranked the No. 4 tennis player in the world, spent about seven hours each day playing video games.
You may think seven hours is not a long time (considering how long you play) but, for Kim Sears, it was too long and she dumped him. Sears and Murray had been a long-time couple but his excessive game playing was putting a damper on their time together and she just wanted more out of the relationship, so she told him it was time to move on.
I can understand this obsessive need to want to play a game for seven or more hours a day (role-playing games anyone?). But, as a women, I can understand Kim’s need for something more out of the relationship. I would kill my boyfriend if he broke a date with me to instead play a video game. Even though I like games, I like to spend time with him, too.
When you are in a relationship, you need to set aside time for your partner. Period. Sure, this can be hard when you are passionate about something that your partner is not, but if that is the case, then maybe you need to find a new life mate.
Perhaps, if Murray set aside more time to spending with his girlfriend, they would still be together. But, then again, she may very well be one of those people that just hates video games and refuses to accept that anyone else could possible like them. What is wrong with people?
Oh well. Perhaps now Murray can find a new girlfriend who shares his passion for video games and this will no longer become a problem. That is, unless he is a controller hog. Girls hate that.
