Ric Turner decided to go all out with his Christmas light display this holiday season. Instead of the standard lights on the house and festive figures on the lawn, he decided to create a tribute to Guitar Hero. And it isn’t just some lights, it’s an actual Christmas light game of Guitar Hero. Turner used 21,268 lights and LEDs, 7 Light-O-Rama light controllers, a video of a perfect performance of “Cliff’s of Dover” by Eric Johnson from Guitar Hero and the audio from the Wii game to create Christmas Light Hero.
The guitars are out in front of the house, and you can pick up and play, following the lights that appear on the front of the garage. So if you succeed, or mess up, everyone can hear it. Also, people who are just driving by the neighborhood to watch the light display can even tune in and listen to the “Cliffs of Dover” Christmas Light Hero performance by turning their radio to 99.1. (It doesn’t say if it is AM or FM.) The light show even changes based on if the game changes, like if you fail or activate star power.
Let’s watch the Christmas Light Hero show:
Take the time to stop by Turner’s YouTube page as well. You can see his past Christmas and Halloween light shows. If you’re in Valencia, California, you could probably go see this year’s Christmas Light Hero display in person.
