A boy from New York, NY (USA), and his Xbox Live account helped capture a burglar who had participated in almost 200 robberies.
Jeremiah Gilliam had broken into cars and homes and stolen all kinds of electronic equipment including GPS devices, video game consoles and computers.
The boy’s Xbox 360 had been stolen earlier and, while playing using someone else’s console, he noticed that his Xbox Live tag was being used at that moment. He and his parents called the police and they were able to track the IP address being used to a home in the Bronx.
Gilliam was arrested at an apartment belonging to his grandmother which he had been using to stash an impressive collection of electronics. The police also found several stolen credit cards.
The cops did a great job getting this guy using the Internet. He was basically running a RadioShack from his grandma’s house and had a stack of credit cards so the damage could have been bigger.
Who knows, maybe this kid even got some gamer points added to his score.
