The year 2009 brought us a game that joins Avatar: The Last Airbender in the Easy Achievement Point Hall of Fame. Kids’ games are often on the list because kids’ games are supposed to be easy. Sports games are on the list because a little adjusting of the gameplay sliders can turn you into a three-point shooting, hat-tricking or strikeout machine.
When you combine a kids’ game with a sports game to make – wait for it- a kids’ sports game, easy gamerscore ensues. So it has happened with Backyard Football 2010. There are only 10 achievements at a 100 points apiece to make 1,000 you can pick up in about 15-20 minutes. If you look at the gamerscores of the elite grinders, this is a game you are certain to find.

Objective: Throw for 300 yds with one player in a game
Big Time QB
Reward: 100 Points
Objective: Throw 3 TD passes with one player in a game
Rusher
Reward: 100 Points
Objective: Run for 100 yards with one player in a game
Bulldozer
Reward: 100 Points
Objective: Run for 200 yards with one player in a game
Fantasy Man
Reward: 100 Points
Objective: Run for 3 TDs with one player in a game
Hands
Reward: 100 Points
Objective: Catch the ball for 100 yards with one player in a game
GoTo Guy
Reward: 100 Points
Objective: Catch the ball for 200 yards with one player in a game
Showtime
Reward: 100 Points
Objective: Catch 3 TDs with one player in a game
Tackler
Reward: 100 Points
Objective: Record 8 tackles with one player in a game
Sacker
Reward: 100 Points
Objective: Sack the opposing QB 3 times with one player in a game
A lot of easy gamerscore efforts require you to hold your nose as you play – Open Season, anyone? But as with Avatar before it, renting Backyard Football 2010 for a quick 1,000 is so easy and painless achievement point fiends have to do it. You can get it back to the video store (or back into the mail) the same day. And, if you’re like me and have two young sons, you could even squeeze a few hours of fun out of it.
