Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney WiiIt’s time to stand up and defend the unjustly accused! Well, almost time, anyways. Capcom has just announced that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will be debuting on the Wii Shop Channel in North America on January 11, 2010. So if you’ve never played the game before, make sure you have a spare 1,000 Nintendo Points ($10) ready to purchase it.

The Wii port of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is nearly identical to the DS game. You star as Phoenix Wright, a defense attorney who must defend people who have been accused of commiting horrible crimes. Of course, all the people you’re defending are being framed, and you have to collect and present the evidence and grill witnesses on the stand to reveal the truth. It’s filled with a cast of colorful characters and the Wii version allows you to present evidence by swinging the remote and press the statements of people appearing on the stand by wiggling it.

You may want to just pick up a 2,000 Nintendo Point card though. The Wii port of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is initially missing the last case from the original DS game that was created specifically to take advantage of the DS’ hardware capabilities. Capcom’s releasing it a few months later, in May, 2010, for 100 Nintendo Points ($1).

I’m guess that, since Capcom already had all the text translated, it was no problem to get the WiiWare port of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney out immediately. The Japanese version of the first four episodes, which we’ll see next week, came out December 15, 2009 in Japan. If you decide to download the game next week, make sure you have around 302 blocks of memory on either an SD card or your Wii.
