Jammit

OEM is giving CES 2010 attendees the gift of music. The company has announced that Jammit, its music application for the iPhone and iPod Touch will be appearing in the iLounge Pavilion at the event. Attendees will be able to visit OEM’s area and play through the Jammit demo to get a better feel of how the application works.

Jammit is an educational application, but also offers users the ability to remix tracks, listen to included music and play along with the songs available in each volume. The Jammit program has a four channel mixer built in to isolate different instruments in the song so you can hear their parts better, a slow mode which can help you if you’re just learning a track and trying to play along, a tab and notation page so you can use the program as sheet music while you play along on your guitar or drum set, a looping feature so you can practice one section repeatedly, and a recorder to record yourself playing the music. So it’s mainly about learning to play the music.

OEM’s press release doesn’t state which versions of Jammit will be appearing at CES 2010 though. See, the Jammit programs are specialized. When I checked iTunes today (10:58am CST, January 7, 2010) there were 27 different variations of the program, each costing $6.99. Each Jammit volume includes three songs, and is either the guitar, bass or drum version of the program. For example, Jammit: Classic Rock Guitar Vol. 1 only focuses on the guitar part of the song, and features Alice Cooper’s “I’m Eighteen,” Foreigner’s “Dirty White Boy” and Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water.”

If you’re attending CES 2010, stop by the OEM booth. Aside from the demos, the company is going to be giving away free stuff, like t-shirts.
