Big news from Nintendo today, by Spring 2010, Wii owners will be able to access Netflix movies and TV shows from their Wiis. Now, no matter what console you have, as long as its hooked up to broadband internet and you have the proper equipment, in the case of the PS3 and Wii a Netflix instant-streaming disc, you can watch a wide selection of shows and movies instantly.
Using Netflix on the Wii will be just like using Netflix on the PS3. You just need to have an $8.99 general Netflix plan, which will also allow you to get free movies and tv shows through the mail along with the instant media, the console and the disc. You put the instant-streaming disc into the console. Then, you just use your Wii Remote to control the action and find yourself something to watch.
The instant-streaming Netflix Wii discs are not yet available. But, Wii owners can sign up to receive one for free the second they are. Netflix has a special website set up, and all you have to do is provide your address. Once the discs are ready, Netflix will ship them out to everyone who signed up for free.
It’s great news for Wii owners, since it’s the only console not able to actually play some kind of movies. Xbox 360s can play DVDs and PS3s can play DVDs and Blu-ray DVDs. All the Wii can do is play Wii and GameCube games.

Well if you're going that route I personally don't see why you would buy a PS3. I would get a stand alone blu ray player that had netflix streaming for a lot less than the cost of a PS3. The stand alone would look a lot sexier next to your other equipment as well.
