The God of War franchise still has some steam left in it. After two well received games on PS2, one on PSP and the highly anticipated release of GoW III on March 16, 2010, it would be disappointing to see Kratos fade away. Sony stands by GoW III being the last game in the trilogy but not the last in the franchise.
Speaking in a video interview with Gamervision, John Hight, director of project development for Sony Santa Monica made it clear what Sony’s intentions are. Sony will stick by GoW and will make more games but will be careful about what it does. GoW has an image that has been duplicated many times since its inception and Sony wants it to uphold that signature quality.
What new direction could Sony take GoW and is it possible to continue without Kratos? I think it’s possible for another PSP title to be released that could serve as another prequel. I for one would be more than happy to play through the tale of Kratos’ brother who was mentioned in a extra ending in the original GoW.
