There are probably as many fights between fans over who should have made the roster for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars as there are between fans playing the game.

Considering some Tatsunoko anime is more popular in America than others, Capcom producer Ryota Niitsuma told Siliconera the company tried to get a few more characters in.

“We at Capcom, too, wanted to see the Samurai Pizza Cats in the game. We were in discussion with Tatsunoko productions to try to get them in the game. It went right up the last minute but it didn’t go through.”

Even more well known in the US than the Pizza Cats is Speed Racer who received his own big budget movie in 2008. Nitsuma said Speed got left on the cutting room floor because he’s “just a race car driver.” (What the…!?) Dead Rising’s Frank West is in the game and he’s a photojournalist, albeit one that has covered wars.

Wait, who wouldn’t want to roll over their friends in the Mach 5? I remember Speed throwing down with some fisticuffs from time to time. He beats up ninjas and nobody’s tougher than ninjas.

Of course, Capcom execs have said there will be a Tatsunoko vs. Capcom sequel if game sells well enough. The Pizza Cats and Speed Racer would be great additions to a sequel. The Nintendo Wii-exclusive fighter hits store shelves January 26, 2010.
