Deal of the Day: Psychonauts for $2 on Steam

Labeled as a “Midweek Madeness” sale, steam is offering Psychonauts for only $2 through this Thursday (January 28, 2010).

The platformer currently retails for $9.99 and was originally released in 2005 by Majesco for PC (windows), Xbox and Playstation 2. Since this is a Steam sale, you’ll be getting a PC (Windows) release with minimum requirements that include: Minimum: Windows 98 SE/2000/XP, 1.0 GHz Pentium III and AMD Athlon, 256 MB of RAM, 64 MB GeForce 3 or higher or ATI Radeon 8500 or higher (except GeForce 4 MX and Go series), DirectX 9.0 or higher compatible sound card, DirectX version 9.0 or higher (included with game), 3.75 GB minimum hard drive space, Windows-compatible keyboard and mouse (and the game is controller enabled).

Psychonauts stars Raz, a young psychic who leaves the circus to sneak into a summer training camp for future Psychonauts. As expected, nothing is as it seems and Raz has to quickly acquire and perfect a few psychic skills to defeat baddies and solve puzzles. Some of his learned abilities include telekinesis, levitation, invisibility, pyrokinesis, clairvoyance, confusion, shield and blast.

I recall the game winning many Best Of categories by several award-giving entities for its humor and original game play. Unfortunately, it ended up becoming a Best Game You’re Not Playing.

Well, now you can dig through a few couch cushions to gather enough scratch to buy this at a bargain basement price.
