A new addition to the Pokemon family of games is looming on the horizon. No, I’m not talking about the forthcoming, worldwide release of Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. And this isn’t about Pokemon Ranger: Path of Light, which’ll be out in Japan in March, 2010. There’s a whole new entry in the main Pokemon DS series in development, and it’ll make it’s Japanese debut in 2010.
Aside from the fact that it’s been announced, no solid information is available yet on the 2010 Pokemon release. All we know is Gpara reported that Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, announced that Nintendo and GameFreak are working on a new Pokemon game at the Q3 2009 investor meeting.
Iwata gave vague details, but did confirm that there would be new gameplay elements, new pokemon to catch and a new region/area to explore.
I guess Nintendo knows people are cutting back on major purchases, and is relying on a dependable series like Pokemon to keep up a steady stream of revenue. Practically every DS owner has owned, or at least tried, a Pokemon game.
