We’d already heard talk of EA buying a 2010 Super Bowl ad spot to show off Dante’s Inferno, but now the company itself has confirmed it with a press release. EA has purchased a 30 second spot to run “Hell Awaits.” Based on the wording in the press release, it sounds like this will be a brand new game trailer.
EA also has announced that the ad will run during the fourth quarter, so if you’re not planning to watch Super Bowl XLIV on February 7, 2010, you still have some idea of when to tune in if you just want to see the ad. Or, if you won’t be near a tv, you can always check online later that day. AOL’s Fanhouse and Spike TV’s site both will have commercials shown during the 2010 game, in case you missed them.
EA also explains that it is hoping to use the Super Bowl 2010 Dante’s Inferno ad to introduce the game to the over 100 million people who watch the sporting event, especially since most of the viewers are men ages 18-34, the target age group for Dante’s Inferno.
Dante’s Inferno will be released two days after Super Bowl XLIV, on February 9, 2010, for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and cost $59.95. It will also be released for the PSP, though that version won’t be out until February 23, 2010 and will only cost $39.99. All versions of the game are rated Mature.
