Despite the fact that skateboarding game Tony Hawk Ride didn’t do so hot last year (reviews were… less than stellar), Activision has confirmed that a new Ride is on the way. 1Up reports that CEO Mark Griffith explained away the previous game’s poor reception in today’s Q4 call.
“It took longer to optimize the hardware, leaving less time to optimize the software,” he said. The company is aiming for a sequel for late 2010, and plans to use this time to strengthen the software so it properly interfaces with the board. Griffith also hinted again that they’re looking at other game possibilities for the Ride board.”
I’m kind of surprised that there haven’t been more games that have sought to use the board.It’s absolutely perfect for snowboarding games – maybe it’s time for an SSX reboot! Whatever happened to the glut of downhill racers anyway?
