Okamiden DSThings are looking good for Capcom’s Ōkamiden: Chiisaki Taiyou. Sure, the Japanese DS sequel to Ōkami still only has a vague 2010 release date. But now, Siliconera has discovered that the name Ōkamiden has been trademarked in Europe. It looks like Capcom wants everyone to know the cuteness that is Chibiterasu.

In Ōkamiden the bad guys from Okami return three months later. So Sakuya summons Amaterasu for help, but instead Chibiterasu comes to the rescue. Since Chibiterasu is just a little wolf, that means relearning Celestial Brush techniques. Chibiterasu also needs help to save the world, and will often team up with partners, like Susano and Kushi’s son Nushi.

I just did a quick search at the United States Patent and Trademarks Office database for Ōkamiden, and there’s no sign of a US trademark yet. Capcom’s usually pretty awesome when it comes to worldwide releases of games, so if there’s a trademark for Ōkamiden floating around Europe, that means it’ll most likely be coming to North America as well. I can’t wait! I loved Ōkami. I hated those puzzle segments where you had to dig to the bottom of a well, and never got past the part where Amaterasu has to help Kaguya get to the bottom of one, but despite that I still love the game.
