That’s right, my fellow gamers! No longer shall we be shackled to the whims, not to mention camera, of those we co-op with. At least that’s what Peter Molyneux, head of Lionhead Studios and what amounts to the spokesperson for the Fable franchise, is promising this week. Now, we all know how far Molyneux is willing to go with his promises but there was quite a stink over the co-op mode featured in Fable II.

In Fable II, any co-op shenanigans were limited to the person’s game that you were playing in. Basically that person chose where to go, how to get there and so on. You were at the mercy of that specific character’s intentions. This was definitely something that many people had a bone to pick about, so it’s not exactly surprising to hear what Mr. Molyneux is saying about the next installment.

Joystiq has a few quotes taken from the 1Up podcast, such as Molyneux stating, “When you come into my world, you come in as your hero, with your dog, with all your unique weapons, self-crafted weapons.”

So it certainly seems that he’s learned his lesson from the whole Fable II fiasco. Anyhow, be careful who you invite to play in your Albion because they’ll be able to change things. What things? All kinds of things.
