Dragon Ball Origins 2If you loved the action RPG DS game Dragon Ball: Origins, then brace yourself for Dragon Ball: Origins 2. Namco Bandai has just announced that it is working on localizing the game for North American audiences, and hopes to have it in stores by Summer 2010.

Like Dragon Ball: Origins, also on the DS, Dragon Ball: Origins 2 takes place back when Goku was a cute, little kid. Dragon Ball: Origins pretty much covered the Emperor Pilaf and Tournament sagas, and Dragon Ball: Origins 2 covers the Red Ribbon Army saga, right where the previous game left off. There are animated cut scenes again, lots of levels to go through and the same touchscreen controls that were used in the original game.

Dragon Ball: Origins 2 also adds some new elements into the game. For example, instead of only being able to play as Goku, there’ll be segments where players can be Bulma, Krillin or Yamcha. There will also be unlockable multiplayer challenges, where two DS owners can join forces in special boss battles and stages to prove teamwork is best. There’s no Nintendo WiFi Connection support, sadly.

One of the coolest parts of the Japanese version of the game, called Dragon Ball DS 2, is that it also includes a classic Famicom/NES game, Dragon Ball: Shenron no Nazo/Dragon Power. The official press release from Namco Bandai doesn’t mention if the North American release will have the classic game included. Let’s hope it does! There shouldn’t be too many conflicts, as Bandai originally published Dragon Power in the US.
