Aliens vs Predator

Aliens vs. Predator has played to mixed critical reviews but Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley is declaring the game a success. AvP is number one on the UK sales charts and UK-based Rebellion is basking in the glow.

Kingsley spoke to Develop about the February 16, 2010, release and the future of the franchise.

We wanted Aliens Versus Predator to be a critical success as well as a commercial success, which we think we have achieved. We’re also in discussions with Sega about ongoing support for AvP, and also about a sequel to the game.

Kingsley noted three American reviews that were “inexecusably bad” but said the game is averaging high. That’s not exactly true, but then game company execs often have a gift for exaggeration. If the American sales numbers end up looking like the UK’s, it sounds as if more facehuggers will be setting up shop on our consoles and PCs soon.

AvP is available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
