USA Today got some exclusive information on Fallout: Las Vegas, Bethesda Softworks and Obsidian Entertainment’s forthcoming RPG that could end up being one of the most notable game releases of 2010. It’s not out until Fall 2010, but now the background story of the game has taken shape.
Your character, which you get to pretty much totally customize, is a courier tasked with delivering some kind of package. Only, the delivery doesn’t happen. You’re attacked, it’s stolen from you and the assailants bury you and leave you for dead. Fortunately, a robot finds you and brings you to a doctor named Doc Mitchell and you recover. Once you’ve regained your strength, your adventure begins.
You must explore Las Vegas, which is still a gambling town and quite an attraction. You have to recover the stolen item, and presumably complete other tasks along the way. The city’s supposed to be huge, as big as the capital in Fallout 3, so exploring should be fun. Aside from the newly revealed set-up and character customization, that’s about it for news. There’ll once again be different factions of individuals seeking to control different areas of the city, along with monstrous creatures and mutants.
If you check the official Fallout website, there’s a bit of Fallout: Las Vegas information available too, though nothing too recent. Most notable is a trailer that shows your character being found buried by a robot and saved. There’s also a brief overview and faqs section describing the game.
Let’s check out the trailer.
Based on the skyline shown above. It looks like the Stratosphere may still be standing!
