Sonic petition says, “Sonic 4 will simply not be anywhere near as good as the original Sonic games”

Free speech is a wonderful thing to have. However with the ability to say whatever you want, you’re bound to get some arguments that are virtually baseless and unwarranted. Case in point – a petition made by fans of the original Sonic the Hedgehog SEGA Genesis game against the upcoming Sonic 4.

According to the petition, these fans want SEGA to bring back its old games just as they were so many years ago. They are making this argument based on leaked gameplay footage and screenshots from Sonic 4.

A line from the petition states,”Sonic 4 will simply not be anywhere near as good as the original sonic games.”

They have reached the conclusion that they will not buy another Sonic game unless Sonic 4 is changed. In fact, they’ve decided to go out and buy the original Sonic the Hedgehog when Sonic 4 releases to show SEGA they mean business.

It’s hard to take this petition seriously given the utter disregard for proper grammar and punctuation the writer has shown. It’s also downright ludicrous to judge an unfinished game based off a short video and still images. A reasonable person would wait until they’ve tried the game before going to far as to condemn it. But as we’ve seen with the Left4Dead2 petition, reasonable people are hard to come by.

The rest of us will wait until Sonic 4 releases in Summer 2010 on Xbox Live Arcade, PSN and WiiWare before we light our torches and march to SEGA’s headquarters.
