Update: Kotaku is reporting that Vince Zampella, Infinity Ward’s other studio head, is no longer employed with Infinity Ward. Zampella’s Linkedin profile states Zampella’s last month with Infinity Ward is March 2010. This falls in line with earlier reports of Infinity Ward’s president Jason West leaving the company as well.

The disappearance of Activision heads Jason West and Vince Zampella seem to be the result of an ongoing investigation citing, “breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward.”

An SEC filing from March 1, 2010 refer to two top Infinity Ward employees being the targets of this investigation. The report did not go into details on what parts of the contract was violated.

The Linkedin and Facebook profiles of the alleged former president of Infinity Ward Jason West verify these claims. Jason West posted a Facebook status saying,” Jason West is drinking. Also, no longer employed.” West’s Linkedin profile also lists his employment with Infinity Ward from January 2001 to March 2010.

Activision is also planning on seeking litigation as the result of these matters.

  1. Wow, and here last night I was thinking it was a publicity stunt.

Activision is full of jerky moves lately. First, The Silver Lining was shut down, and now this!

  2. I wonder what this means for Infinity Ward developing more Modern Warfare titles. It's all they're known for. I can't imagine Activision shutting down the studio, but what could they do to as far as a new IP is concerned?
