This week the Xbox Live House Party begins and before you ask, Kid and Play are not involved in this one.
The House Party is a promotion in which Gold subscribers who purchase three specific arcade titles and download the free Game Room application between March 3 – 30 also get 400 Microsoft Points and a free month of Xbox Live. The first of those games, Toy Soldiers, is available March 3, 2010, for 1,200 Microsoft Points.
Toy Soldiers is a real-time strategy title set in a toybox filled with action figures and vehicles representing the World War I era. Your job is to defend your toybox using tanks, planes and of course toy soldiers. Though they are toys, the vehicles in the game are based on a mixture of real life WWI vehicles and unused WWI concepts.
The other Block Party titles are Scrap Metal, out March 10 for 1,200 MP and Perfect Dark, out March 17 for 800 MP. The Game Room application is a free download out March 24, allowing gamers to play classics such as Centipede and Asteroids in a virtual arcade. It will include leaderboards and give an entire new generation of players a chance to experience
In community events, you can play Borderlands with Gearbox Software developers from 5-8 p.m. Eastern Time March 5. You will need to purchase the new Secret Armory of General Knoxx expansion and for the best play experience your character should be around Level 50.
The Deal of the Week isn’t much fun for those that like actual games to be on sale. Gears of War items for your Xbox Live Avatar are this week’s discounted item. You can get the COG armor worn by game hero Marcus Fenix and his cohorts for 240 Microsoft Points and COG helmets for 80 points through March 8. So get armored up and ready to take down the Locust hordes.
