The fallout from the ongoing feud between Activision and Infinity Ward has reached a new level. Following the firing of former Infinity Ward lead developers Jason West and Vince Zampella, the duo have now filed a lawsuit against Activision.
West and Zampella have tapped O’Melveny & Myers LLP attorney Robert Schwartz to handle the lawsuit. West and Zampella are seeking compensation they feel is owed to them for Modern Warfare 2 sales and the right to control games with the Modern Warfare moniker.
Schwartz issued a press release in which he further details the basis of the lawsuit. Below is an excerpt from the release.
“Instead of thanking, lauding, or just plain paying Jason and Vince for giving Activision the most successful entertainment product ever offered to the public, last month Activision hired lawyers to conduct a pretextual ‘investigation’ into unstated and unsubstantiated charges of ‘insubordination’ and ‘breach of fiduciary duty,’ which then became the grounds for their termination on Monday, March 1st.”
