ScribblenautsRemember last year, there was this little game called Scribblenauts released by 5th Cell and Warner Bros. Interactive. It had an interesting sort of premise, where people would have to solve puzzles in 220s by writing words on their DS’ touch screen to spawn items. Oh, and it also happened to be one of the best selling DS games of 2009. Can’t forget that.

You can probably guess where this is going – success spawns sequels, and Scribblenauts 2 has just been announced. 5th Cell’s working on it, Warner Bros. is publishing it and if all goes well, it’ll be out in Fall, 2010.

The new concept implemented in Scribblenauts 2 is the use of adjectives. You’ll now be able to better customize objects by putting a descriptive word in front of it. Will a red flamethrower be more potent than a blue one? Who knows! But it’d sure match Maxwell’s hat better. There’ll supposedly be around 10,000 adjectives, on top of the 22,000+ returning words from Scribblenauts, and supposedly more new nouns as well.

I’m most excited about the control scheme! It isn’t just a touch-screen game anymore. Scribblenauts 2 will allow users to control Maxwell with the face buttons and directional pad. That’s a huge relief, since many times I’d find myself failing levels just because I couldn’t get Maxwell to move precisely with the stylus-based controls.

I do have to wonder though – will the vending machine and handcuff trick still work?
