Even after losing its top two guys, Infinity Ward is hard at work on its latest and greatest round of downloadable content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Or is it just Modern Warfare 2?

Either way, the DLC is going to be a timed exclusive out for the Xbox 360 on March 30, 2010, with dates for the PC and PS3 to come at some nebulous later date. This tactic should surprise no one.

What might surprise some people is the tactic being used to promote the DLC. It’s actually rather humorous and not even offensive this time around. Instead, the company has set a website up in order to explain the definition of what it calls “mapathy” which is a, uh, play on words, er, word? Yeah, you get it.

Anyway, mapathy is defined by Infinity Ward as, “a state of indifference to the same old maps one has been playing for the last several months.” They then poke fun at different well-known hiding spots for campers and those who, you know, were just looking to get away for a little while. Unfortunately, it looks like players might be revisiting an even older locale when the DLC hits.

Rumors abound that the pack will contain two maps from the original Modern Warfare as well as three actual new ones. Earlier this week, some screenshots and video of the supposed new maps popped up on the Internet and these types of rumors have been surprisingly accurate so far this year. It is certainly not unheard of for a developer to recycle maps in this fashion.
