Anime Expo (AX) is the biggest convention for all things related to anime and manga in the US.
Every year AX attracts thousands of Otakus who flood Los Angeles (Convention Center in Southern California) to get their fill on the latest news and maybe hang around dressed like their favorite characters. Fans of the genre should mark their calendars for July 1 through 4, 2010, because this year among the concerts, presentations, contests and of course karaoke, AX is presenting Toshihiro Kawamoto as a guest of honor.
Toshihiro Kawamoto is one of the lead animators and character designers in the industry. His work includes character design for several entries in the Mobile Suit Gundam 083 series, Escaflowne: The Movie, Eureka Seven as well as one of the most acclaimed anime series, Cowboy Bebop. Kawamoto is also a co-founder of Bones, the animation studio responsible for series including Wolf’s Rain and Full Metal Alchemist. He is also working with legendary comic artist, Stan Lee, in a new project entitled Heroman.
I really like Kawamoto’s work. Cowboy Bebop is one of my favorite anime series of all time. The story and the animation are excellent and the way in which the music and action sequences are mixed is just awesome. Any fan of animation should give Cowboy Bebop a look. It’s a classic.
Kawamoto will be participating in different panels and will also have an autograph signing session and a meet-and-greet.
