Samurai Warriors 3 Wii

Nintendo picked today, March 16, 2010, to announce that Samurai Warriors 3 is coming to North America. Yup, Nintendo’s working with Tecmo Koei to bring us the Wii-exclusive entry in the Samura Warriors series. It’s nice to see companies work together for the greater good. Samurai Warriors 3 came out December 3, 2009 in Japan, and has a Fall 2010 release window for North America.

Samurai Warriors 3 is a hack-and-slash action game set in the Sengoku period of Japanese history. You pick a character then head out to the battlefield, taking down as many enemies as you possibly can in the hopes of being victorious. There are 37 playable characters, 30 returning from previous Samurai Warriors games and 7 new ones. The game also has online and offline co-op multiplayer.

While the Samurai Warriors 3 release announcement is good news, I’m happy to hear about this for another reason entirely. See, Tecmo is responsible for the Fatal Frame series. Nintendo didn’t take any action to publish Fatal Frame 4 in North America before, like it did in Japan, but maybe there’s still hope if ventures like Samurai Warriors 3 and Metroid: Other M are successful.
