Paradox Interactive has announced a new service called GameGadgets, that allows gamers to purchase strategy guides for Paradox games. Online print on-demand service Lulu.com will handle the order processing and printing . First up is a guide to Europa Universalis III: Heir to the Throne.
Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester said in a corporate press release that the company is testing the demand for these game guides.
We consider this an experiment to see what interest people have in physical products related to our games. If it’s successful, we might consider expanding the product line.
The Heir to the Throne guidebook is a beefy 112 pages about the strategy game and, as a bonus for history buffs, it contains notes on the Renaissance period, including the Holy Roman Empire and the English Civil War.
Paradox Interactive has been developing and publishing PC-based strategy games since 1999. Its previous hits include the critically acclaimed Europa Universalis and Hearts of Iron franchises. Paradox is well-known for its PC work, but is planning a console release in 2010 (and April 8, 2010, PC release) of Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West.
