Xbox Live gaming update for the week of April 18 through 24, 2010

This weekLeft 4 Dead 2 gets a long-awaited piece of downloadable content, “The Passing.”

This add-on unites the survivors from the first Left 4 Dead with the Southern survivors from the second installment. This adds new options for single-player, multiplayer and co-op play. The Passing is available for 560 Microsoft Points. Left 4 Dead 2 offers a lot of zombie-killing thrills and some of the most fun multiplayer on Xbox Live. Not to mention developer Valve is famous for supporting its games with quality DLC. If zombie killing or playing as zombies is up your alley, you can’t go wrong here.

The Xbox Live Arcade has long been the place to reconnect with the favorite franchises of yesteryear. In recent weeks we have seen a new 2D Mega Man game and the re-release of old school beat-em-up Final Fight. Sega brings back one of its legendary quarter gobblers this week with After Burner: Climax. You can return to the unfriendly skies and get some shooter action for 800 Microsoft Points.

If you’d like to go more cerebral in gaming pursuits, Puzzle Chronicles is the new puzzle RPG on the block. You enter the dark and savage lands of the Ashurin Empire to fight bloodthirsty beasts and enemy warriors – with puzzles. This one costs 800 Microsoft Points.

Lost Planet 2 has been making a considerable amount of headlines, and now we can actually play a little of the game with a multiplayer demo. Up to 16 players can battle it out the Turbulent Jungle map. Lost Planet 2 will feature four-player co-op, so get your team tactics down or risk the scorn of your friends and enemies alike.
