Hut, hut, hut! That distinctive call is familiar to any football gamer of the 80s and 90s who spent hours racking up the tackles in Tecmo Bowl. The legendary football game returns this week through the Xbox Live Arcade in Tecmo Bowl Throwback. This game is a remake of 1993′s Tecmo Super Bowl that includes the option for high definition play.

Since Electronic Arts has an exclusive deal with the National Football League, none of the teams in Tecmo Bowl are licensed. The players have the same attributes as the ones in the 1993 game, however. The Tecmo Bowl Throwback teams come with names and rosters you can edit, making it just a matter of going to the “Dallas” roster and changing the generic quarterback’s name to Troy Aikman, and so on. Perhaps most importantly, this Tecmo remake has online multiplayer. The simple but addictive gameplay of Tecmo Bowl and millions of challengers on Xbox Live? Put me in, coach. Tecmo Bowl Throwback is 800 Microsoft Points.

A bunch of classic arcade games are available for Microsoft’s Game Room this week: Super Breakout, Pitfall!, Megamania , Night Stalker , Rack ‘Em Up, Realsports Volleyball and Basketball.

Split Second, a stylish arcade racer, has a demo now available. This racer takes place in a city constructed for a reality show in which drivers will tear the town to shreds. You can set off explosions that change the race course and knock your opponents off the track. Split Second is slated for a May release, so kick the tires and see if you want to drive this one off the lot.

The Deal of the Week is the Dishwasher:Dead Samurai for 400 Microsoft Points. This game features 14 story levels, 50 arcade challenges and Live Arcade co-op. This game was the winner of Microsoft’s Dream, Build, Play contest that gave a contract to the designer of the best community game. Considering it’s a one-man effort, this is pretty special stuff.
