For years we’ve been led to believe that games were the most important factor in determining whether or not to buy a console. This idea comes from the days where games were the only thing consoles were capable of. Now with all the multimedia capabilities the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii have to offer, consumers are taking a different approach to console purchasing.
Nielsen Games did a survey in order to find out what factors were most important to consumers when buying a PS3. Nielsen decided to use the release of God of War III to engage buyers and get their views. It used GoW III because of the intense media buzz and marketing behind the game. Simply put, if any game would encourage someone to buy a PS3, it was GoW III.
Over the three weeks surrounding GoW III’s release, Nielsen surveyed 700 gamers between the ages of 7-54 who didn’t own a PS3. Results showed buying a specific game such as GoW III was the last reason gamers wanted to buy a PS3. The number one reason? Blu-ray movies. The second top motivator was the PS3′s price drop to $299.
Those same gamers would be happy to know Sony will upgrade the PS3 in the future to make it capable of playing 3D Blu-ray movies.

your first clue should have been when they called the 360 reliable.
