Crackdown mini-series

In anticipation of the July 6, 2010 release of Crackdown 2, Microsoft and Ruffian Games has debuted an animated mini-series based on the game’s tales of law and disorder in Pacific City.

The five-part mini-series is titled “The Pacific City Archives” and acts as a bridge for the events between the first Crackdown and its upcoming sequel. The first episode was released on Friday, May 21, 2010 on the Machinima Channel via YouTube.

In Crackdown 2, you once again play as a ‘rhoided supercop called an Agent. Ten years have passed. There are deadly new enemies called the Cell and the Freaks. The Freaks are mutants that spawned from events related to the first Crackdown, while the Cell is a human group fighting against both the Freaks and the Agency.

The first episode of the mini-series is called “Home Truths”, which reveal that Pacific City is now a devastated war zone, with law enforcement seemingly outnumbered. It’s dangerous to go out during the day because you risk being shot to death by Cells, but it’s worse at night, because God knows what Freaks do to their victims. A mysterious woman named Catalina Thorne appears to be at the center of it all, though you may have trouble finding her since she’s wanted by the police.

Four more episodes will be released over the next four Fridays. Here is the schedule.

  • Episode 1: May 21, 2010
  • Episode 2: May 28, 2010
  • Episode 3: June 4, 2010
  • Episode 4: June 11, 2010
  • Episode 5: June 21, 2010

Crackdown 2 is an Xbox 360 exclusive. If you pre-order from GameStop, you get four kinds of armor in various colors. Spiffy.
